Cotabato City continues to woo in foreign investors from Asia with its much celebrated progress in the recent years despite the breakdown of the Bangsamoro Basic Law.
Just recently, businessmen from Singapore and Brunei have visited the city to personally see the areas of investments that Cotabato has to offer.
Cotabato City authorities continue their operation against the motorcycles with unregistered sidecars locally known as "payong-payong" and single motorcycles that are for hire or the "habal habal".
These types of vehicles have been declared illegal by the Land Transportation Office and the Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board because the payong-payong and the habal-habal do not belong to any type of public transportation vehicles and therefore cannot be registered as such.
The City Government of Cotabato, in its effort to sustain and to improve further the influx of investments and the current economic trend in the city, will be launching more tourism-related activities this year.
The program "2016 is Tourism Awareness Year for Cotabato City" will officially commence on April 25, 2016 with the program "Linisin natin ang Kapitolyo", a clean-up drive at the Old City Hall and the City Plaza grounds. This is to be followed by a joint flag raising ceremony of all the government offices in Cotabato City, together with the city government's private partners. City Mayor Japal Guiani, Jr. will also be officially declaring 2016 as the city's Tourism Awareness Year.
