What is OTOP?

OTOP Philippines is an adaptation of 's successful "One Village, One Product" project. It was conceptualized as a form of people's participation in the regional development of a country.

Its success resulted in the adoption of the concept by Thailand, Vietnam, Malawi, Cambodia, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and Indonesia.


What is OTOP Philippines?

OTOP Philippines is a priority program of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to promote entrepreneurship and create jobs at the local level through development of products and services that has competitive advantage.

It supports micro, small and medium enterprises (mSMEs) to manufacture, offer, and market distinctive products or services through the use of indigenous raw materials and local skills and talents.


What is the main objective of OTOP?

The government's Medium Term Development Plan 2004-2010 outlines the dual strategies of product development through OTOP; and credit provision through the SME Unified Lending Opportunities for National Growth (SULONG), to support 3 million entrepreneurs and to generate 6 to 10 million jobs.
