Job opportunities continue to open for Cotabatenios

As one of the biggest investments in Cotabato City is set to open on November, more job openings are available for Cotabatenios this year.

PureGold Incorporated, one of the biggest hypermarket franchises in the country, is currently on the process of hiring more or less 250 employees, both direct and indirect. Last October 5-7, it has conducted interviews for potential applicants at the People's Palace's lobby, with the coordination from the local government of Cotabato thru its PESO.

PureGold Mindanao Area Manager Ferdinand Binluan said, PureGold Cotabato's entire workforce will be coming from the city. They will be hiring all managers, supervisors, and down to the utility workers from residents of Cotabato City who have submitted their application to the PESO.

This way, local skilled workers and degree holders in need of a job will be given an opportunity to work for a big company like the PureGold. It is also their way of blending in to the local culture and be able to reach more would-be customers           .

"We already have noted several applications that really qualify for the jobs and we made sure that they are really residents of Cotabato City. We only accepted the applications submitted to the PESO", Binluan said.

Sam Tampugao, a 23-year old resident of Barangay Tamontaka Mother, was one of the applicants who wished to get a job at PureGold. He said he is very happy that establishments as big as this are starting to open in Cotabato City signifying its better economic climate as compared to the previous years.

Another applicant who introduced herself as Sarah thanked the local government of Cotabato for its efforts in inviting investors to come in to Cotabato City and for making sure that Cotabatenios are being prioritized in job openings.

Cotabato City Mayor Japal Guiani, Jr. also proudly said that Cotabato City is the first in Region XII to have a PureGold branch. He added that the influx of investments in the City is not merely the handiwork of the local government. More importantly, it is the behavior of the people that entices the investors to come in. They had to see that the Cotabatenios are peace-loving and are people who yearn for development and progress.

Moreover, these investors have said that they were not at all intimidated by Cotabato City and its peace and order situation. Binluan said that all of these are just parts of a developing city or province.

"We have seen worse in other areas but businesses still thrived so we do not see it as a threat. We believe that by giving more jobs to the people, mas kakaunti ang mga street crimes na mangyayari", he added

Centro Department Store officials have also expressed the same sentiment during their visit to Cotabato City prior to the opening of their branch.

PureGold Incorporated has included Cotabato City in its expansion in Mindanao. It will be occupying a building that is now being constructed inside the Manuel Tan Compound along Quezon Avenue, Cotabato City. It has 241 branches nationwide with 6 branches in Mindanao.
