The award was given to these barangay health personnel who have achieved the highest percentage of achievements when it comes to implementing the different programs of the OHS like the Safe Motherhood Program, Family Planning Program, Expanded Program of Immunization, and the National Tuberculosis Program.
Aside from them, the nurses and midwives who are also considered as "most improved" were recognized. Special commendation was also given to Barangay Poblacion 5 for being one of the recipients of the Regional Sandugo Awards. This recognition is given to communities with at least 1% of the total population donated blood in the Mobile Blood Donation conducted last year in the barangays.
City Health Officer-in-charge Dr. Suher Guianomla-Ibrahim said, recognizing the efforts of the health workers will keep them motivated and inspired in doing their jobs and becoming better public servants.
“It really means a lot to them when we recognize their efforts. It is enough for them that they are being appreciated for what they do”, Dr. Ibrahim said.
These midwives and nurses are the frontliners of the Office on Health Services and of the whole city government, as well, in providing prompt and accurate health care services to the constituents of the different barangays in the city.
