EO 13 - Transferring the BNS to the City Health Office

EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 13

TRANSFERRING THE ADMINISTRATIVE AND OPERATIONAL CONTROL AND SUPERVISION OVER THE BARANGAY NUTRITION SCHOLARS (BNS) FROM THE OFFICE ON SOCIAL WELFARE AND DEVELOPMENT SERVICES (OSWDS) TO THE OFFICE ON HEALTH SERVICES (OHS)


WHEREAS, Presidential Decree No. 491 promulgated on 24 June 1974 created the National Nutrition Council (NNC) and, subsequently, the respective local nutrition councils as the highest policy making and coordinating body on nutrition;

WHEREAS, Executive Order No. 116 and Executive Order No. 123, both series of 1987, organized the Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS), under the Department of Social Welfare and Development, as the frontliners in the implementation of nutrition programs;

WHEREAS, in order to ensure that local nutrition councils shall be effective in the performance of its role, Executive Order 472, series of 2005 transferred the nutrition programs of the government under the Department of Health, consequently transferring also the administrative and operational control and supervision of the Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS);

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JAPAL J. GUIANI, JR., Mayor of Cotabato City, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law do hereby order the following:

SECTION 1. The administrative and operational control and supervisions of the Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) is hereby transferred from the Office on Social Welfare and Development (OSWD) to the Office on Health Services (OHS).

SECTION 2. This Executive Order shall take effect immediately.
